1st Semester Reflection

During my 1st semester in my Digital Art class, I was able to create many different kinds of posters, drawings, designs, and even a short animation. I had a lot of fun with creating these projects, some more than others. With most of these, I put a lot of effort into making them, even when I felt as though I was done, I still asked others for feedback so that I could make them even better. I always try to be creative with my ideas and solutions, even when I'm taking inspiration from something else, I always put my own little twist on it to make it stand out. As far as planning these out, it's really more of 50/50; Sometimes I'll make a plan in advance before I start working, but most likely, I'll come up with a brief concept or outline and just make it up as I go along. Occasionally if I make a mistake, I'll try to see if I can incorporate it into the design before getting rid of it. Sometimes my work is reminiscent of something I've seen in the past, other times it's something completely different and unique. I always work hard as much as I can, even when I'm finished with a project I may get to work on the next one. There have been multiple times when I wanted to include a hand-made drawing into my work, but haven't been able to, so instead I plan it out on a piece of paper and work on it at home, and sometimes it'll take me hours on end to fully draw it up and bring it to school on a flash drive, but I still do it. I always strive to improve upon my own work and add on to my original ideas, and, for me, this applies to more than digital art. I try to challenge myself, and it's not uncommon for me to add too much. For instance, with the Minimalism project, in which we created movies posters containing only the most basic and important aspects of the movie; I struggled with that because, to me, it felt there was so much I left out and it felt incomplete, even though that's exactly the point, I still struggled because I wanted to do more.

We have had many fun and unique projects, although a lot of them revolved around movies; a future assignment that I would like to see would be for us to have to make book covers. Specifically to make our own unique book covers, and include a brief summary of what it's about, it could be any genre we want: fantasy, horror, it could even be a weird autobiography from our future selves or something like that.
